Solid

While the demand for energy continues to increase, the limited reserves of fossil fuels and the air pollution caused by them leave us in search of finding ways to utilize alternative energy sources for the next generation. One attractive and promising method is to store solar energy in a chemical energy form. That is, water and carbon dioxide are transformed into solar fuels such as H2, HCO2H, etc. using solar energy.

Hybrid of Molecular Catalysts and Semiconductor Materials

hybrid molecular material catalysts

In the research area of solar fuels, the integration of light absorbers with functional catalysts is one of the primary challenges. We synthesize biomimetic transition metal complexes as functional catalysts and develop integration methods with a light-absorbing semiconductor. In the project, we try to contribute to the solar fuels research area with newly designed hybrid molecular material catalysts.
